Frequently Asked Questions
Body doubling is a productivity strategy widely utilized by individuals with ADHD, executive dysfunction, or general task-activation barriers. It involves working on tasks (like studying, writing, doing admin, or cleaning) in the presence of another person.
This simple social presence serves as an anchor for the wandering mind, reducing distractibility, increasing motivation, and lowering the neurological "start friction" of tasks without feeling pressuring.
Together features on-demand co-working rooms. Simply choose a task, choose a duration (25, 45, or 60 minutes), and choose a connection preference. The system matches you with a global partner starting a task on demand.
You do not have to speak or show your camera. Together supports three modes:
- Silent: Perfect for quiet companionship. You work in silence with a simple text indicator that your partner is online and working.
- Voice: Best for checking in verbally, announcing goals, or receiving quick encouraging words.
- Camera: Traditional visual body doubling, creating a shared study-room atmosphere.
Focus Spaces are instant 24/7 prerecorded body-doubling environments (such as someone studying, working at a desk, quiet office, reading, or doing household tasks).
They provide immediate visual presence without waiting for a live peer partner match or managing social expectations. They are not live sessions and not guided coaching videos—they are quiet co-working environments.
Together uses peer-to-peer WebRTC connections routed through secure LiveKit media routers. All live voice and video streams are encrypted in transit using industry-standard DTLS-SRTP encryption, protecting you from eavesdropping.
No routine recording occurs: Audio and video data is streamed in real-time between devices and is never cached, processed, or saved to servers during standard sessions.
Reporting exception: If a user submits a safety report during a camera session, Together captures a short proof clip that is uploaded securely to cloud moderation storage for human review. Temporary local evidence files are deleted immediately after upload, and local file paths are never stored.
Together saves focus configurations, completed session history, streaks, favorite tasks, and settings locally and through supported account sync features.
Partner sessions activate native screen protection. iOS detects screenshot attempts during active sessions; Android natively blocks screenshots and listens for Android 14+ capture callbacks. Repeated screenshot attempts automatically trigger a 4-hour restriction from partner sessions.
Reports include typed reasons (Under 18, Harassment, Sexual Content, Threats, Spam/Scam, Safety Concern). Reporting immediately exits the media room first so the partner is notified, submits the report to Supabase via constrained RPCs, and restricts the reported user.
For camera sessions, a short proof clip is uploaded securely to Supabase storage. Temporary local evidence is deleted immediately after upload, and local file paths are never stored.
Clicking "Block User" creates an explicit cloud database block record. Matchmakers fetch active block records at session start and automatically exclude blocked users from pairing with you.
Yes. You can opt out of receiving friend requests at any time in your profile settings, and choose whether your focus streak is visible to the public or friends.
Account deletion removes all local profile data and permanently deletes your Supabase auth account along with related cloud data cleanup paths.
